Terms of Service
Last updated: August 3, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you ("you", "user") and The Handy Calculators ("we", "us", "our") governing your access to and use of thehandycalculators.com and any related sub-domains, content, calculators, APIs, and feeds (together, the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service you confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted these Terms. If you do not agree, please stop using the Service.
1. Provider information
The Service is operated by The Handy Calculators. You can contact us at any time through our contact page for questions about these Terms, billing (where applicable), or legal notices. For data-protection requests, please use the channels described in our Privacy Policy.
2. Eligibility
The Service is a general-audience product intended for users aged 16 and over (or the local age of digital consent, whichever is higher). If you are under that age, please do not use the Service. By using the Service you represent that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.
3. Permitted use
We grant you a worldwide, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Service for personal or internal business purposes, subject to these Terms. You may not:
- scrape, crawl, mirror, frame, or systematically copy the Service or substantial portions of it without our prior written permission;
- republish, resell, or commercially exploit the calculators, results, or copy as a stand-alone product;
- attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer, or probe the Service or its infrastructure for vulnerabilities outside a coordinated disclosure;
- use the Service to violate any applicable law, sanctions regime, or third-party right;
- misrepresent the source of results (for example, removing attribution from feeds or APIs we publish).
We may suspend or terminate access for users who breach this section, with or without notice.
4. No professional advice
All calculators provide estimates for general informational purposes only. They are not financial, investment, tax, legal, medical, nutritional, engineering, real-estate, or any other form of professional advice. Outputs depend on the inputs you provide and on assumptions that may not match your situation, jurisdiction, or current law. Always consult a qualified professional before relying on any result for an important decision.
5. User submissions
If you submit a calculator request, feedback, or other content ("Submissions"), you grant us a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, sublicensable licence to use, reproduce, modify, publish, and incorporate the Submission into the Service. You confirm that the Submission is original to you and does not infringe any third-party right. Do not include confidential or sensitive personal data in Submissions — we treat them as non-confidential.
6. Cookies and consent
The Service uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies. Strictly necessary cookies (e.g. authentication, locale preference, security) are set without consent because the Service cannot function without them. Advertising and measurement cookies set by Google AdSense are loaded only after you consent through our cookie banner.
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland we operate Google Consent Mode v2 with all advertising and analytics storage set to denied by default, and we display a Google Funding Choices consent banner — a Google-certified Consent Management Platform that implements the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework (TCF v2.2). You can accept, reject, or fine-tune your choices. Outside those regions, consent defaults to granted.
You may change or withdraw your consent at any time using the cookie-preferences link in the footer (visible once advertising is enabled in production). A full breakdown of cookies, purposes, retention, legal bases, and third-party recipients lives in our Privacy Policy.
7. Third-party services and links
The Service integrates third-party providers including Google (AdSense and Funding Choices), our hosting and database provider, and our content-delivery network. It may also link to external sites. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party content, products, or practices. Their use is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
8. Intellectual property
All Service content — calculator logic, design, copy, code, layouts, OG images, and brand assets — is owned by The Handy Calculators or its licensors and protected by copyright, database rights, and trademark law. "The Handy Calculators" and the logo are our marks. Open-source components are licensed under their respective licences (notices on request).
To report infringement of your copyright, send a written notice with the elements required by the EU Copyright Directive / DMCA via our contact page.
9. Service availability and changes
We aim to keep the Service available 24/7 but do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or secure operation. We may add, change, suspend, or remove features, calculators, or content at any time without liability, including to comply with law or address security risks.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, non-infringement, or uninterrupted availability. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties; in those jurisdictions our warranties are limited to the minimum permitted by law.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, in no event shall The Handy Calculators, its owners, employees, contractors, or licensors be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business opportunity, arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the Service — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our aggregate liability for all claims arising from or related to the Service shall not exceed EUR 100 or the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim, whichever is greater.
Consumer rights notice (EEA, UK, Switzerland). Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for: (a) death or personal injury caused by our negligence; (b) fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; (c) gross negligence or wilful misconduct; or (d) any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable mandatory consumer-protection law. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights remain unaffected.
12. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold The Handy Calculators harmless from any claim, demand, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, or your violation of any law or third-party right. This section does not apply to consumers to the extent prohibited by mandatory law.
13. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause and with or without notice, including if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms. You may stop using the Service at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (IP, disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnity, governing law, dispute resolution) will survive.
14. Governing law and venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The state and federal courts located in the United States have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, subject to the consumer-protection paragraph below.
EU/UK consumers: if you are a consumer habitually resident in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, you also benefit from the mandatory protections of the law of your country of residence, and may bring proceedings in the courts of that country. The European Commission provides an Online Dispute Resolution platform for consumer disputes; we are not, however, obliged to participate in proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be highlighted on the Service for at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after that period constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
16. Miscellaneous
- Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy form the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service.
- Severability. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
- No waiver. Failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of our right to do so later.
- Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our consent. We may assign them to an affiliate or successor.
- Force majeure. We are not liable for failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
