Quickly find out what date is 30, 60, 90, or any number of days from today — in calendar days or business days (Mon–Fri). Updated live for your local date.

    Common Use Cases

'Days from today' is one of the most-searched date questions on the web. Most uses cluster around legal and financial deadlines: a 30-day return window from a retailer, a 60-day medical waiting period, a 90-day contract notice, the 180-day window of a 1031 exchange. The calculation is simple, but humans are bad at counting calendar squares — especially across month and year boundaries.

This page is built for speed. Type a number, get a date and a day of the week. Both calendar-day and business-day results appear together so you can confirm which definition your contract or form actually means.

    Common Day Counts

How contracts and courts actually count days

Nearly every legal and administrative deadline in the United States excludes the day the clock starts and includes the last day. This is the rule in Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 6(a), and most state rules and commercial contracts mirror it. If a notice is served on the 1st and you have 10 days to respond, day one is the 2nd and the deadline is the 11th. That is exactly how this calculator counts: today is day zero, and '1 day from today' returns tomorrow.

The rule bends in three places worth knowing. First, if the final day lands on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday, the deadline rolls forward to the next business day — a period never expires on a closed-courthouse day. Second, some older statutes and insurance policies use 'clear days,' which excludes both the first and the last day and effectively gives you one extra day. Third, a handful of regulatory windows count backward from a fixed event, in which case the roll-forward reverses and the deadline moves earlier rather than later.

When a document says 'within 30 days of receipt,' the receipt date is day zero and you have through the 30th day after it. When it says 'no later than 30 days prior to closing,' count backward from the closing date and, if you land on a weekend, move earlier to be safe. The conservative reading is always the one that gives you less time.

None of this is legal advice, and the governing rule is whatever your specific contract, statute, or court says. Use the date this page returns as the arithmetic, then confirm the counting convention in the document that created the deadline.

Business days, federal holidays, and the 'ten business days' trap

The business-day result above counts Monday through Friday and skips weekends, but it does not deduct federal holidays. That is deliberate — holiday schedules vary by country, state, industry, and even by individual company — but it means the business-day figure is a floor rather than an exact answer during holiday-heavy stretches.

There are eleven US federal holidays: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Four of them cluster between late November and early January, which is why a '10 business day' turnaround quoted on December 15 routinely stretches into the second week of January. Banks observe all eleven; the stock market skips Columbus Day and Veterans Day but closes on Good Friday, which is not a federal holiday at all.

A useful conversion: ten business days is fourteen calendar days in a clean stretch, twenty business days is twenty-eight calendar days, and thirty business days is about six weeks. Add roughly one extra calendar day for every federal holiday inside the window.

For a count that removes specific holidays between two dates, use the business days calculator linked below — it is holiday-aware and lets you set the start and end explicitly instead of anchoring on today.

    Frequently asked questions

What date is 30 days from today?

Use the calculator above — it always uses your local date as 'today' and adds calendar days (including weekends). It also shows the equivalent business-day result, skipping Saturdays and Sundays.

What date is 90 days from today?

Type 90 in the box above. The result updates instantly, with the day of the week — useful for return-window deadlines, contract closings, and IRS payment cutoffs.

Does this calculator count today as day zero or day one?

Day zero. 1 day from today means tomorrow. This matches how courts, contracts, and the IRS count days unless explicitly stated otherwise.

What's the difference between calendar days and business days?

Calendar days include weekends and holidays. Business days count only Monday through Friday. For a 30-day calendar window starting Monday, the equivalent in business days is about 42 calendar days later.

How is '10 business days from today' calculated?

We add 10 weekdays (Monday through Friday) starting tomorrow, skipping Saturday and Sunday. Federal holidays are not deducted — for a holiday-aware count, use our full business-days calculator.

Can I use this to count days backwards?

Enter a negative number to count days ago — for example, -30 returns the date 30 days before today. Use our date difference tool for two arbitrary dates.

Why does the result change at midnight?

'Today' uses your device's local clock. As soon as midnight passes, the base date shifts forward by one day and every result advances with it.

    What about leap years?

Adding 365 days from February 29 lands on February 28 the following year. Adding 366 lands on March 1. The calculator handles leap years automatically using the JavaScript date engine.

If a deadline falls on a weekend or holiday, does it move?

Under most US court rules and IRS practice, yes — a deadline landing on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday rolls forward to the next business day. This calculator gives you the raw calendar date; check the specific rule that governs your deadline to see whether the roll-forward applies.

Does '30 days' ever mean a month?

Not in a well-drafted contract. '30 days' means 30 calendar days; 'one month' means the same numbered day of the next month. They differ in every month except one with exactly 30 days, so read the clause literally rather than assuming.
