We compute the calendar difference between the date and time you enter and the current moment in your local time zone. The breakdown follows the same convention HR systems and most legal definitions use: full calendar years first, then leftover months, then leftover days, then the remaining hours, minutes, and seconds.

Totals (total days, total hours, total seconds) are absolute — useful when you want one big number for a milestone like 10,000 days alive, 1 million minutes since a quit date, or a billion seconds since a relationship started.

The seconds counter updates live every tick so the page is satisfying to leave open. If you set a precise time, the count is exact to the second; if you leave the time field empty it defaults to midnight.

A neat party trick: most adults pass their 1-billion-second mark in their early thirties, hit 10,000 days alive at about 27 years 4 months old, and cross 500,000 hours alive around age 57.
