When on, any GPA value typed above your 4 max scale (or below 0) is automatically snapped into range — keeps projections safe without manual correction. Credits are unaffected.

Out of reach with these credits — even averaging the maximum 4.00 across all 15 planned credits won't hit 3.50. You'd need 4.70 on average.

Find the GPA you need on upcoming coursework to hit a target cumulative GPA. Choose your school's GPA maximum (4.0, 4.3, 5.0, or anything custom) and edit the letter-grade thresholds and percent equivalents so the letter, percent, and feasibility readouts match exactly what your registrar uses.

Frequently asked questions

What's the formula for the grade I need?

Required GPA on remaining credits = (target × total credits − current × completed credits) ÷ remaining credits. The calculator does this exactly so the cumulative average lands on your target.

How does per-assignment mode project my GPA?

It multiplies each upcoming course's credits by your planned GPA points, sums them with your current points (current GPA × completed credits), then divides by total credits. The result is exactly the cumulative GPA you'll have if every planned grade comes true.

Can I match my school's exact letter and percent scale?

Yes — open the 'School scale & mapping' panel to set your GPA maximum (e.g., 4.0, 4.3, 5.0) and edit the letter-to-GPA thresholds plus the two percent anchor points. The letter, percent, and feasibility readouts then use your custom mapping everywhere.

Why does it sometimes show 'out of reach'?

If the required GPA exceeds your scale maximum, the target is mathematically impossible in the credits you have left — you'd need extra terms, retakes (where allowed), or a lower target. The 'best possible' stat shows the GPA you'd hit with straight A's at your scale's ceiling.

Is the percent equivalent reliable for any single class?

It's a linear proxy between two anchor points you choose (default 0 GPA → 50%, max GPA → 95%). For any single assignment, use your syllabus's exact scale; this calculator is meant for cumulative GPA planning.

What credits should I count as 'completed'?

Every credit that's already on your transcript with a graded letter — including transfer credits if your institution averages them in. Pass/fail and audit credits don't count toward GPA, so leave them out.
